How to stop self sabotage.

What holds you back from being your best self?

For me, my limiting beliefs, low self esteem and major case of anxiety held me back. It is so easy to fall into the path of simply not believing in yourself which in the end only stops you from achieving your goals and dreams.

The best piece of advice I have received was 'stop doubting your abilities.' The thing that holds us all back including myself is FEAR. Fear that we won't succeed, fear that we are not good enough, fear that things won't work out and it is so easy to allow that fear to consume you and control your life.

Well, let me try and change that narrative for you. Why not look at fear as a big road sign showing you that life is so much better out of your comfort zone and that even though there's a chance you will make mistakes or fail, that is the lesson that life gives us to help us grow and become stronger. We should look at mistakes or failures in our life as life lessons that will only help us evolve as individuals for the better.

Our fear basically keeps us stuck and pushes us towards self sabotage. We are all guilty of that and where does that leave us? Nowhere. Stop standing in your own way. My dad has always told me that true growth comes from stepping outside of your comfort zone.

Fear has two meanings. One meaning is one that scares us and keeps us stuck or one that truly empowers us.

You have two simple options: 1. Forget everything and run or 2. Face everything and rise

1. Always question your thoughts- when the voice of self doubt, fear and uncertainty fill your mind with negative thoughts, be aware. Remember you are not your thoughts, you are simply the observer of your thoughts. When you understand that you are in control, things will shift. You can ignore, replace, block those negative thoughts and perhaps try and replace them consciously with more positive affirmations like 'I am fully capable to do this.'

2. Be okay with discomfort because our subconscious mind tends to feel more comfortable with familiarity and it freaks out when it feels like you are moving towards stepping out of your comfort zone however real growth comes from that. Don't allow those feelings of discomfort to drive you towards self sabotage, rather choose to sit with the discomfort, understand it, be okay with it and keeping moving forward towards what you truly want.

3. Choose healing. Fear usually stems from past experiences, insecurities, self doubt and pain. When you become aware of the fear, it opens up a way to heal the parts of yourself that you have discovered.

4. Find your 'why?'- When it feels like fear is completely consuming your mind and holding you back, rather ask yourself, 'what do I want to change in my life and why do I want it?' Allow your passion and desire for personal growth and happiness to be the driving force behind controlling your fear and moving forward despite that fear.

5. Embrace who you are and be real with your current situation and where you are at in life. When you come to terms with your reality and are truly honest with yourself, you can begin to move forward clearly. It is a liberating experience when you completely accept yourself and you live your truth.

You can do it! Let's do it together!
