From less stress to a boost in self-esteem, exercise is the hidden secret to happiness.

Exercise is as great for the brain as it is for the body.

It helps ease the feelings of depression, anxiety and keeps your memory sharp. These are 5 amazing benefits from working out.

Number One:  It is a natural way to deal with depression and anxiety. It is a proven mood booster because the physical exercise basically kicks up your endorphin levels which makes you 'feel good' and they are chemicals produced by the brain and spinal cord that creates feelings of happiness and euphoria.

You don't need to push your body, even moderate exercise throughout the week can improve those dark feelings of depression and unhappiness.

Number Two: An immense decrease in stress. I speak from experience because I have always suffered from a high levels of anxiety and once I start to move my body or go for a run or practice yoga- I always feel a sense of peace and mental strength. I even enjoy high intensity cardio workouts because it pushes me mentally and I gain so much clarity and appreciation and awareness towards my body.

Exercising forces the body's central and sympathetic nervous systems to communicate with one another and that in the end improves the body's overall ability to respond to stress in a calmer manner.

Number Three: The overall increase in self esteem and self confidence and this is such an important factor because I grew up not feeling worthy or good enough and that impacted my life in such a negative way.

Number Four: Better sleep

Number 5:  A brain boost- Cardiovascular exercise creates new brain cells which is a process called 'neurogenesis' and it helps improve overall brain performance. Physical activity boosts creativity and mental energy.

Why not focus all of your energy on regaining control of your life and making an effort to focus on being active, taking care of your mental health instead of allowing negative emotions and limiting beliefs to control your life.

Overcome the voice in your head , saying you cannot do this, you are lazy, I can exercise on another day and push through those negative pep talks and focus your energy on positive ways to change your life.

You need to be honest with yourself and ask yourself - Are you ready to truly change your life and focus on being happy every day?

When you believe in yourself, anything is possible.
