HEALTHY people do these 10 things

Welcome to your weekly dose of good vibes!

Today I would like to discuss a topic I am super passionate about, and that is health and wellness.

Health is so much more than just consuming fruits and vegetables or having your daily dose of exercise. It is also very important that you take the time to care about your mental and emotional wellness too.

Do you need some encouragement to live a more happy and balance life?

Well...I am here for you!

I want to highlight 10 habits that healthy people have in common as well as a a few tips to add to your daily routine on your path to getting started on this journey. You don't need to implement everything at once. Take baby steps every day because it is all about balance and adding these new habits at your own pace so that you can find what works for you.

1. Take the time to plan and prepare because we all have busy schedules however that should not be an excuse to place your health on the back seat of your life. Planning meals helps you to be more efficient during your day and by taking the time to plan ahead, you are able to make smarter choices.

Tip: Choose one day where you can invest 20-30 minutes to plan out your meals for the week ahead.

2. Move your body. Exercise is so important for your well being. Find an exercise you enjoy and begin adding that into your daily life. When you enjoy it, it won't feel like an effort. Exercise is also proven to help with depression, anxiety and helps to improve your self esteem, mental focus and productivity.

Tip: Schedule 20 minutes every day for a dedicated exercise of your choice

3. Try and practice more flexibility when it comes to food, instead of restrictive rules around food because that will help reduce stress, you will actually enjoy the experience of eating and it will help you to become more consistent and focused on your health goals where you don't end up having a negative relationship with food. This will lead to sustainable results in the end.

4. Choose to eat a variety of colorful fruits and vegetables because they provide you with many of the vitamins and antioxidants that help to protect your body against cancer, heart disease, hypertension and other health issues. It also encourages an improved gut microbiome and that basically helps to improve your overall health and well being.

5. Sleep is a powerful tool because your body and mind needs rest. This also plays a major role in healing, repairing and recharging your body. People who tend to sleep more actually end up making better decisions throughout the day when it comes to their health.

Tip: Stop using any electronic devices 30 minutes before you go to bed and try and create a bedtime routine for yourself where you can be peaceful and unwind from your day.

6. Have a growth mindset. By having an open mind to learn new things will help contribute to your own personal development because having a growth mindset does make it easier to stick to good habits and developing new skills. This is also proven to improve your happiness long term.

7. Water- or what I like to call- the 'magic drink'

Being dehydrated causes fatigue and a decrease in your overall mood which only affects your productivity in the end. Staying hydrated is literally at the top of the list for healthy people who set out to accomplish their daily tasks and it also gets rid of headaches and that feeling of being sluggish or lazy.

8. Take the time to spend time in nature and bring your mind to a positive place. It can be healing and beneficial for your body and mind. It has been proven to improve your health and overall well being. It also helps to lower blood pressure, reduce stress and increases mental focus and productivity.

9. Practice mindfulness daily. In times where people are super busy and stress is the norm, it is so important to take time to simply slow down and live in the moment. Being mindful of your surroundings, expressing gratitude, and it also helps your emotions of stress and anxiety to subside which allows you to enjoy life more.

10. Focus on strengthening your muscles because that only helps with improving balance, your quality of life, helps to develop strong bones and also keeps you lean. It helps to prevent the natural loss of lean muscle mass that comes with the aging process.

I hope this has inspired you to live your best life.
