The Power of Positive Thinking

How to keep your brain happy?

To be honest, there is no more doubt regarding the fact that increasing positive and gratitude filled feelings, thoughts and emotions in your mind will only positively improve the chemistry of every cell in the body. What truly works is when you change your perspective and basically the world around you becomes a different place and in the end, you respond to it differently and it will respond differently to you.

There are so many powerful simple strategies that you can use to change the 'inner voice' within you in a way to increase your energy, enthusiasm and at the same time increase your immunity and healing from within. You need to find what works best for you, whether that is positive thinking, prayer, therapy or self help courses, from visualization to meditation. Find what works best for you because everyone is so unique and different.

Have you ever had one of those days when you wake up and you feel really good about yourself, you feel as if you are illuminating good vibes and a positive mindset for the day ahead and then someone approaches you and says 'you look really tired today.' After about 25 minutes you think to yourself, 'maybe my energy has dropped' and you suddenly start feeling exhausted and your energy has dropped. You begin to question of that person made you feel this way.

In a way they did sort of impact you however it was not what was said to you that changed your physical energy, it was what you said to yourself that created the change because sometimes we tend to repeat to ourselves things that people say to us. I can personally say that I have experienced that type of situation, when you constantly focus on something someone has said to you and it impacts your mind and your overall day because you give it so much power.

This is a perfect example of how your thoughts can change your psychology. The words you have in your mind actually cause chemical reactions in your body and in this type of situation, it causes negative reactions in the body.

The positive side of that is actually using our thoughts and words to improve our overall function of the body.

For example when you are an actor and you need to mentally prepare for your performance, what you think produces your reality. This is when you need to improve your inner dialogue to create a healthier one. Where you use positive thinking as a way to see where you want to be and placing your energy into visualizing that, your thoughts start to create that reality that you want, you see yourself in a movie scene, remembering your lines and performing your scene really well and because you are focused on that narrative and on doing your absolute best, you begin focusing on that and that impacts your overall mindset and your overall way of being.

One thing I have learnt is not to sit with every single thought but to understand it, find value in it and move on from it. If you consume yourself with only negative thoughts, in the long term, it has a negative impact on your physical and emotional health.

Many of us who suffer from negative thought patterns tend to worry more and even suffer from depression because we have lost our way of recognizing, filtering and being able to change damaging thought patterns in our minds. Basically it is like a running mental computer that has no anti virus software and our negative thoughts completely take over and destroy our minds.

These days instead of consuming my mind with thoughts of what other people say to me and allowing that to control my entire day after that, I have chosen a healthier approach where I remind myself that I am doing my absolute best and when I master that skill, I don't feel so many feelings of anxiety or pressure. Remember this does not mean that you should become arrogant or completely oblivious of your weaknesses, it means that you can give yourself a good self talk session where you remind yourself that you are capable of achieving what you want and also that you are doing your best to be your best.

It is easier to give into negative thought patterns because it is our human nature to be in survival mode when feeling overwhelmed, stressed or under pressure but when we change our perspective and realize that it is okay to have a bad day but it doesn't mean we need to give up yet. Find those ways that make you truly happy and find that joy and do more of that.

Remember you are fully capable. You have the power within yourself.
